Quote of the Day

"As it turns out, important British scientists are actually almost exactly like pubescent, small-minded high schoolers."

I'm not necessarily endorsing this view. I'm just sayin'.

Ouch. The author from "Cracked" should be warned: Them's fightin' words!

From such a well respected source too...
I'm uncomfortable with this post. It smacks of childish point-scoring, and what are you trying to say: that your audience is opposed as a group to scientists in general?

    Could do better. D-

  3. Point-scoring against whom? British scientists? Why would I be against British scientists? Or against pubescent high schoolers? I'm confused.

I posted this because the link takes you to a humor site that tells the story of how a particular scientist plagiarized his fellow scientist. It's an entertaining account of a small chapter in the history of science, something I thought this blog's readership would appreciate. That's all. You're reading something into this I did not intend.

You're right, I'm probably reading too much into it.
My initial impression was that the post was taking a pop at scientists in general, unhelpful on an excellent blog that does so much to debunk the science-religion conflict myth.
My initial impression was wrong, so I apologise. The post has the potential for misunderstanding.

Also - thanks for showing me the humorous website. The article on foreign film posters for famous films made me laugh the most I've done in weeks!

  5. No problem. I probably should have thought harder about potential misunderstandings before posting it. But Cracked is one of my guilty pleasures, and I wanted to share the wealth a bit.
