Roger Steer has emailed me about his book, Letter to an Influential Atheist, which Steve Carr also mentioned in his comment (supplying a dead link). Roger's book, which I haven't read, appears to cover much of the same ground as McGrath. Neither of them challenge evolution, for instance, only the philosophy Dawkins tries to build on top.

On the case of Buttiglione, he is interviewed in the Spectator this week. I should mention that the interviewer will be the best man my wedding but I have never met Buttiglione myself.

Roger Steer does , of course, deny that evolution could create Homo sapiens.

he doesn't see how the conscience of Homo sapiens could have evolved.

He wrote 'Whatever we are by creation, we affirm: our rationality and sense of moral obligation. What we are by the Fall, we deny or repudiate, our irrationality and moral perversity.'

Clearly he thinks there are two mechanisms at work producing Homo sapiens, one not created by God.

If he believes evolution is God's method of creation , then he believes our irrationality and moral perversity were not the result of evolution.

Dakwins , of course, believes all aspects of the nature of Homo sapiens are the product of evolution, not just some, as Steer believes.

And don't forget that contrary to what Roger promised in his book, he did not publish responses on his web page......
